check the spell check

i try not to misspell anything while i’m writing,
even though nowadays there is spell check with those red squiggly lines
to let you know when you’ve messed up the entire story,
so then you need to go back and start all over, again and again,
ad infinitum, though i’m not sure if my spelling or grammar really matters,
you know, as long as you get the gist of what i’m saying,
and you do, don’t you?
you don’t need to answer that,
just think about it quietly until it becomes apparent

story in my head//not on paper

i have this story in my head
and it sounds all original and interesting,
but then i go to write it, and i discover that i no longer have fingers to type,
and then my eyesight slowly starts to fade until all
i see is blurred squiggles dancing on a screen,
laughing at how i can’t finish a thought,
so i might as well go play mario kart

the story i forgot to write//finish

i wrote a story,
but never finished,
and though that might sound like a metaphor for my life,
i can assure you that it is not,
because that story, my story, well,
it will end,
most definitely,
definitively
