shibuya-kei

spotify’s algorithm recommended for me to start listening
to shibuya-kei pop music,
and i have to say,
i don’t usually follow whatever a computer algorithm
tells me to listen to, but in this instance,
i’m kinda glad i did

vocalize silent notes

throughout my childhood,
my mom detested music with vocals in it,
and she only let us listen to classical music,
because otherwise she thought modern pop singers would corrupt our soul,
so when i came of age,
as a point of rebellion,
i started listening to death metal,
but that phase did not last long,
as i tired of all the screaming,
so i went back to classical music,
and occasionally i’ll listen to jazz and lofi beats
in the background while i’m reading

conflicting background noise

i can’t hear the background music i’m playing,
because a coworker is playing their own background music,
and it’s drowning out what i’m listening to,

what’s more,
i forgot to bring my earbuds into work,
so i suppose i’ll just listen to what my coworker likes to listen to,
thankfully, it’s not bad,
not bad at all
