depression era liquor
i wanted to be fancy
so i went to the local liquor store to buy some gin,
but the liquor vendor told me they don’t carry gin
because no one else drinks it
since it is no longer 1924,
to which i had no reply
i wanted to be fancy
so i went to the local liquor store to buy some gin,
but the liquor vendor told me they don’t carry gin
because no one else drinks it
since it is no longer 1924,
to which i had no reply
powerful moments blithely remembered at the tip
of the tongue,
yet still forgotten,
still lost in an endless sea(foam green) of memory
washing out, and drowned for the purpose,
the necessity,
of the new,
make it bigger,
make it shinier,
make it glow in the dark,
and maybe give it some bedazzlers to give it some pizzazz
turning your back on the waiting list
while doing pushups in a pushup
bra, as the relaxing sensation crushes
history into an entertaining
series of facts that don’t mix
well with reality
until an editor gets ahold of the
daguerreotype to make of it what they will
as they wish
