pass the word around

i don’t keep track of passwords very well,
so instead i try to keep all my passwords fairly similar,
which probably isn’t a good cybersecurity tactic,
nor is it all that wise to put that information in a poem,
but i figured my life wasn’t all the worth hacking into,
because if a hacker did find out the details of my personal
and financial life, then they’d realize a full-time coffee roaster
and part-time poet isn’t quite worth hacking and ruining my credit score,
but even if they did take my identity,
then probably couldn’t do any worse with my name and social security number
as i did, i would think

bitter coin

i track the price of bitcoin,
and peg it to the level of happiness i experience,
so every time the price of a bitcoin goes up,
i feel down,
and vice versa,
so don’t think i’m always a bummer at parties,
especially ones where i’m around other
thirtysomethings that like discussing financial markets’
influence on emotional states of being

vocalize silent notes

throughout my childhood, 
my mom detested music with vocals in it,
and she only let us listen to classical music,
because otherwise she thought modern pop singers would corrupt our soul,
so when i came of age,
as a point of rebellion,
i started listening to death metal,
but that phase did not last long,
as i tired of all the screaming,
so i went back to classical music,
and occasionally i’ll listen to jazz and lofi beats
in the background while i’m reading
