FOOT IN CREVICE

once i get my footing,
then maybe this won’t sound so awkward,
though maybe that’s just wishful thinking,
and my uncertainty will always be the most
certain quality about myself

SNOBBISH COFFEE

wine yeast,
anaerobic fermentation,
carbonic maceration,
words that look fancy on a label
but mean very little,
or at least i think they mean very little,
then again,
i didn’t do all that well in chemistry,
or biology,
or school, period,
period

COMPANY TIME

look over my shoulder,
i see my boss and they ask,
is that poetry,

are you writing poetry,
to which i had to admit,
yes, yes it is,

and they tell me,
well, stop doing it,
not altogether, but at least not on company time,

though maybe altogether too,
i don’t think they are fans of poems
