the noise i keep hearing in the attic

i heard a noise in the attic
and thought it was a squirrel trying to break
into my home to steal my wallet,
maybe even my identity,
but even if the squirrel were caught
and brought to a police precinct for a lineup,
then i still don’t think i’d be able to identify
them, nor even give a real and legitimate reason
for why they were in my attic,
but i still assume it was for no good reason
